Who are we and how did we get here

It’s a little like the Famous Five, difference being there are six of us and regrettably we are not famous. Well, some might say we are famous for doing things famously well like drinking Prosecco, juggling work and childcare, dragging ourselves out the door for school run after a ‘late’ night and generally celebrating life as everyone should.

Delicious Six was formed on Halloween, 31st October 2015. We are all friends having first met when our little darlings started in Reception in 2012, there’s a few Brits amongst us, an Aussie, South African and a Swede – a good mix of cultures and nationalities. So here we were, having treated our beasties to an afternoon of Halloween fun, sitting exhausted at number 53 dreaming up our next adventure. Cooking, something some of us are good at and something that scares the living daylights out of others if we find ourselves suddenly having to cook for more than a child.

I guess after a few bottles of Prosecco, everything appears a great idea and so once we started, there was no stopping the conversation and all of a sudden our new surrogate was born. ‘Delicious Six’, set to begin on the first Wednesday in December and continue monthly irrespective of who was available, it was our newly formed club. We made a pact that we couldn’t take the easy way out and cook something you had cooked before, it had to be one dish – soup, entree, main or dessert rather than a feeble new drink someone might conjure up. The point is, it’s about the food, the flavours and setting ourselves a challenge outside our comfort zone.
